My Monthly Favorite Eco-conscious Products - October 2022
“Embrace change.” This was my motto throughout October. Less color, more neutrals. New finds. Brace yourself because this one comes packed with new beauty goodies. These are my favorite conscious beauty discoveries in October 2022.
This year, October, was a real rollercoaster for me. From an unexpected sick leave (bedridden for three weeks) to closing the month on a high note (more on that soon).
While the first couple weeks weren’t exactly prone to testing new products (for obvious reasons), the last two were packed with discoveries and beauty essentials (which was a significant blow to my bank account).
From makeup to skincare, October had it all. Without further ado, these were the beauty products that I loved (and used) the most this month.
Honest Beauty Makeup Remover Wipes
I’ve wanted to try these for a while, but they were constantly sold out at my local retailer.
Even though I enjoy removing my makeup and adequately cleaning my face with a gentle (yet reliable) balm, I love having makeup remover wipes around, especially when I feel drained. I also love having these at hand when I need to correct something while doing my makeup or traveling.
Honest Beauty Makeup Remover Wipes are infused with grapeseed and olive oil and made without parabens, silicones, synthetic fragrances, or phthalates.
Both its tissue and its formula are super gentle. Not only on the skin but also in the eye area. All this without over-drying or stripping my skin.
These are, without a doubt, my absolute favorite conscious makeup remover wipes so far. So gentle yet so effective.
Despite costing a little more than the standard supermarket brands, these are worth the money if you have sensitive skin (like I do).
I can’t wait to stock up on these on my next trip to Douglas Spain.

Honest Beauty Magic Beauty Balm
I have had my eye on Honest Beauty’s Magic Beauty Balm since I placed my first order on the brand (back in 2020, during lockdown). I am a big fan of lip balms and moisturizers, but it’s hard to find one that works.
What can I tell you about this product? It works, and the formula feels very pleasant on the lips.
I love applying it as a lip mask before I go to bed or as a standard lip balm. It leaves a glossy look without that unpleasant sticky sensation. So, if you’re into something sheer and nourishing - this is perfect.
Plus, it has a multifunction purpose. This means it can be used to moisturize dry areas of our skin, like our nose, during flu season.
Any con? The price (is 18.45 euros). I am not saying that it isn’t worth the price. It does! I am just stating that this isn’t the most affordable product.
Despite the price, I enjoy this one’s texture more than my all-time favorite from Burt’s Bees. So, yes, I’ll repurchase this one soon.

Tarte Shape Tape Stay Spray
I have never been a fan of setting sprays. In part because most of these have a very intense scent that reminds me of many hairsprays.
However, after applying my makeup around 6:30 am and being away from home until past 8:00 pm… I felt that it needed some extra help to keep everything in place.
I recalled enjoying Tarte Shape Tape Stay Spray when a Sales Assistant at Sephora tried it on my skin last year. Why? The scent is far more natural and pleasant while getting the work done.
As I didn’t know how often I would use it, I decided to purchase the travel-size spray. It does the job perfectly, is cheaper, and has the perfect size in case you want to take it with you.
I haven’t felt the need to reapply it later in the day. However, if you have dry skin, you can use it to add an extra bit of hydration to your skin.

Tarte Shape Tape Glow Wand
When it comes to highlights, I am all about that natural glow. Even though I am a big fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter and its glitter-free natural glow effect, it comes with so much product... that it can easily expire before you get to the bottom of its container.
As I have sensitive skin, I respect the expiration period on each product, especially when it comes to liquid products - as these are more prone to bacteria growth.
While it is possible to get a travel-size version these days, my shade is not available… and I wanted to try similar products. There’s when Tarte Shape Tape Glow Wand comes into the picture.
It’s very similar to the Charlotte Tilbury one, only smaller and with a more precise applicator. I got the shade Sun Beam (the lighter one), and I prefer this to Hollywood Flawless Filter’s shade 1.
Why?
It’s easier to use.
It’s more precise.
It gives that natural glow.
It’s also effortless to blend out.
Perfect for traveling, as it doesn’t take up much space.
This is an excellent option if you’re looking for a reliable, shimmer-free liquid highlighter.

Rare Beauty Eyeshadow Palette
I received this Rare Beauty Eyeshadow Palette last Christmas, and I haven’t given it much attention until this month.
I have been watching Parisian-inspired makeup videos lately. So, I went browsing my makeup collection. I was looking for light and neutral tones when I ran into this palette.
Throughout October, I have used this eyeshadow palette whenever I fancied a neutral look (quite often).
I have mainly used two shades to create my looks: Genuine and Positive (the ones marked on the photo).
What can I say about Rare Beauty Discovery True to Myself eyeshadow palette? It has excellent pigmentation. The shades are long-lasting and easy to blend out.
In terms of color scheme, this is a complete eyeshadow palette. You can easily go from night to day, from incredibly neutral to more intense looks.
If you’re new to eyeshadow palettes and want to invest in something versatile and reliable to get started, this is a perfect option.
The only shade I don’t see myself using is the central one, as it is pure pressed glitter.

Byoma Brightening Serum
I have heard great things about Byoma’s skincare products for a while now. So when this brand became available at Sephora Spain, I decided to try it.
Out of the few products available on Sephora’s website, I opted for Byoma’s Brightening Serum.
First, because I wasn’t using any at the moment. Second, Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid were two of the ingredients that were part of my makeup routine in the past - when I was using The Ordinary. I found this highly convenient because both ingredients were already available in the same product.
My experience? I noticed that my skin looked healthier, and my pores became slightly less visible after using this product for a few weeks.
What did I like the most about this serum? It’s low cost, convenient, and it gets the job done. Plus, there’s an INCI decoder on its minimal package (so we know the purpose of each ingredient).
In case you’re wondering, I can’t tell you if this product is more effective than the ones from The Ordinary - as I haven’t used these for a while now. However, I find this one more convenient and more accessible to use, given that I am allowed to skip a step in my routine.
If you’re new to skincare routines and looking for an affordable alternative, Byoma products are an excellent option to keep an eye on.
