What’s in my bag?
You can tell a lot about a person by what’s in their handbag. Come find out what’s inside my bag.
Despite not being a Vogue reader or much into fashion, I am a big fan of Vogue’s “What’s in my bag” series. I even watch videos from celebrities I’ve never heard of. Why? Pure curiosity.
While there’s a certain intimacy in what’s inside a bag, it isn’t as intimate as other aspects of our lives. Plus, it’s pretty fun to discover what other women consider their everyday essentials.
As we’ve just changed seasons, I’ve realized that most of the content inside my bag remained the same. Without further ado, here’s what’s inside my bag.
But first, let’s start with the bag itself.
A.P.C. Small Grace Bag
I’ve already written about this handbag a couple of times around here. Mainly because of how special and versatile it is.
It’s a brown A.P.C. Small Grace Bag. Classic, structured, quality-built, and timeless. This is the most expensive handbag I’ve ever bought, and it was a purchase that took me nearly a year to make (given its price). I bought mine at Farfetch with its first purchase discount.
But I am happy I bought it. Besides being small and compact, it has enough space to carry many things. Plus, it goes well with everything.
Phone
Despite not being in the picture, I always carry my phone in my handbag. Primarily because of its size. I currently have an iPhone 13 Pro.
Card Holder
I haven’t worn a standard wallet for over a decade now. I prefer something more minimalist that takes less space, and I rarely carry cash with me.
I love this one from Sézane. It’s handmade in Portugal (where I am originally from) and looks like a small letter envelope.
As it’s made of soft leather, I love seeing the usage marks over time, adding a hint of personality and uniqueness to this piece.
Besides being incredibly sleek, it has enough space for the cards I need to carry with me at all times. Plus, given its limited space, I don’t have room to take useless cards or old receipts, which is excellent!
Keys
What can I tell you about this one? Oh, the keychain! It’s a small Hermione Granger Funko at the Yule Ball (yes, Potterhead alert!). So tiny, yet so unique.
I love that it is meaningful to me, yet it doesn’t take up much space.
Toothbrush and toothpaste
I habitually brush my teeth after having a meal or drinking coffee—a habit I want to keep, even when I am out and about.
So, I carry a small toothbrush and toothpaste wherever I go. And this one from PHB is the sleekest I’ve found. I love that the small toothpaste can be kept inside the folded toothbrush.
Microfiber Cloth
If you wear glasses (even sunnies), you should carry one of these with you. Yes, I know how tempting it is to clean your glasses with the bottom of your t-shirt… but it’s not the same!
I got this one for free from the store where I bought my current glasses, and it’s an absolute lifesaver.
Lip Balm
I believe that this is a staple in every woman's handbag. Lately, I’ve been using Givenchy’s Le Rose Perfecto lip balm.
I love that it nourishes my lips without leaving a glossy look. But what I love the most is that it leaves a bespoke hint of color as it reacts with my lips' PH.
When I want something completely clear and more nourishing, I’ll go with Burt’s Bees Vanilla Lip Balm.
Sunscreen
I’ve become a sort of sunscreen freak in the last couple of years. I use it even on cloudy days or if I am not leaving my flat because I work near a window on the days that I work from home.
I found this sunscreen stick from Mádara during the summer, and it has a perfect size (and coverage) to carry on any handbag. Plus, given it’s not a standard liquid sunscreen, the formula is more stable when facing temperature changes.
Also, applying on the go is very easy without getting your hands dirty.
Perfume
I’ve started carrying a travel-size bottle of perfume ever since I started going back to the office. I love spraying it on the back of my neck after lunch or before I have
For the last couple of months, I’ve been using Loewe’s Solo (Ella) non-stop. And that’s the travel-size spray that I always have in my handbag.
Revlon Roller
I’ve already written about this Revlon Roller around here. It’s one of my staples of the year. Besides quickly eliminating the oil from the skin, it’s washable and reusable.
Which is great not only for your environment but also for our wallets. Plus, given its compact size, it fits in any handbag.
Kindle
I have been a bookworm for as long as I can remember, so my Kindle is more important to me than my phone.
I always carry it with me because I never know if I will stop for a coffee or how much time I will spend on public transportation.
What do I love the most about it? It always weighs the same, no matter the number of pages of the book I am currently reading. Plus, it allows me to carry several books with me simultaneously and swap them for another book more suitable to my current mood.
What about you? What do you always carry in your handbag?
