My Monthly Favorite Eco-conscious Products - June 2022

My Monthly Favorite Eco-conscious Products - June 2022

Can you believe it’s July already?! Time has definitively flown by, from skincare products to handbags and sneakers. These were the eco-conscious products that I used the most in June 2022.

June was a complicated (and insane) month! From rainy days to 40º C days, while struggling at work to get everything done on time. That’s why I haven’t been posting with the same consistency.

I hope things slow down a little bit, so I can write about everything I’ve been taking notes about and the products I have been testing lately.

You’ll have a sneak peek at May’s and June’s favorites. But, I would like to talk about these more deeply.

Without further ado, these were my favorite eco-conscious products in June 2022.

Longchamp Le Pliage Handbag

I have only four handbags in my collection, that’s right. One for each occasion and circumstance. An old Bimba and Lola crossbody bag (that I take pretty much everywhere). My A.P.C. bag (when I want to look more put together). My La Bienhecha crossbody bag when I don’t want to take many things with me (especially in the summer), and my Le Pliage handbag from Longchamp.

I know not everyone is a fan of its design. I’ve been one of those people for many years until I turned 35 and decided it was time to have a versatile and timeless handbag in my capsule wardrobe. And I couldn’t be happier about this decision.

I take my Le Pliage handbag with me whenever I run errands around Madrid or when I go to the gym (4 to 5 times per week). This means that I use this handbag nearly daily, especially last month.

Why? It’s versatile, waterproof, lightweight, long-lasting, and foldable. It has two small strategic pockets inside, and if I need to carry extra stuff… I leave the zipper open and pile whatever I need to take (newspapers, groceries…).

I have the small-sized one, and it has more than enough space to carry whatever I need.

Even though mine isn’t the most sustainable model from Longchamp (they’ve launched an entire line made with recycled materials a few months after I bought mine), it’s still timeless and quality-built. So, I know I’ll be able to use it for many years.

For me, it’s worth the investment (80 euros), given its quality and durability. Also, it blends perfectly with a super casual or a more uptight look.

If you’re considering purchasing one, feel free to stop by one of their stores (or retailers) and check which size is ideal for you. Don’t forget to take a look at their sustainable line!

ColourPop Blush Crush Eyeshadow Palette

This one has been on my wishlist for a few months now, but I avoided placing an order and paying shipping (as well as customs) - just because I fancied it.

When ColourPop launched a free worldwide shipping campaign without a minimum order… I knew it was my chance to get this baby finally. So, I took the opportunity and ordered it along with a discounted mascara. And I am happy I placed this order.

ColourPop’s Blush Crush has all I could ask for on an eyeshadow palette. It’s low cost, the package is made of paper, it has no mirror (more eco-friendly), and it has plenty of light matte and shimmery pink shades.

I am a big fan of pink eyeshadows. My problem? Most palettes include darker or stronger pink tones, which doesn’t suit me at all. Thankfully, that’s not the case with this one!

I have two ColourPop palettes, and I dare say this one is my favorite. Why? Because the shades on the Blush Crush eyeshadow palette are lighter than those on the Sweet Talk palette, I find these easier to use daily.

Either by combining tones or just using one all over the eyelid. My favorite shades at the moment are Enamoured and Pop a Bottle. I love how versatile and easy it is to pull off a more complex look with this palette, as it even has the right shades that highlight the inner corner of the eye or the eyebrows.

I’ve used this eyeshadow palette almost every day that I have put on some makeup since I received it in mid-June.

Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream

I had Kiehl's Super Multi-Corrective Cream lying around the house for a few months now, as it came with Kiehl's Advent Calendar. As I was running out of my Drunk Elephant's Lala Retro Whipped Cream, I decided to give it a go.

Because of its rich and denser texture, I've only used it in the evening - to provide different ingredients to my skin without facing the extra shine drama (I have combination skin).

Its formula is a bit oily and denser than the one from Drunk Elephant, but it could still see positive results. My skin looked healthier and prettier in the morning. I haven't faced any extra shine or oil in the following days.

It was a delightful surprise, and I might include it in my winter skincare routine - when my skin is craving richer and denser formulas.

I am also quite pleased that I bought Kiehl's Advent Calendar. Otherwise, I would never try this one - in the first place.

Klorane Nettle Shampoo

I’ve had oily hair issues for as long as I can remember. I have to wash my hair every two days, otherwise… mayhem!

Yes, I have a dry shampoo bottle lying around for emergencies, but I am not a fan.

In June this year, I was diagnosed with PCOS. And I’ve also been going through a lot of stress lately. So, I’ve been paying extra attention to my diet and the products I am using.

I came across this Klorane Nettle Shampoo at a local drugstore. It was quite a surprise: vegan, made with 85% natural ingredients, biodegradable formula, and the package is made with 100% recycled plastic (and recyclable).

Even though I’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks now, I can already tell the difference: my hair looks healthier and shinier, and it doesn’t look oily as fast as it used to - I can now wash my hair every three days (YAY!).

The 200 ml bottle cost me 7,99 euros, and I only need to use a small amount… I believe it will last me quite some time.

VEJA Sneakers

I have had this pair of VEJA sneakers for two years now. I am usually quite careful with these, storing the shoes in their box. Besides, I usually only wear these when Summer hits (and I need to wear sneakers) or when I want to look more put together.

I am a sneaker girl (with only three pairs in my closet, including this one), and I’ve been having a hard time wearing my pair of black Nikes this summer. So, this pair of VEJA sneakers have been my go-to during the last couple of weeks.

Despite not looking as comfortable as the sneakers I am used to (running shoes) and being a bit heavier, these are quite pleasant and comfortable.

However, I noticed my legs were a bit more tired after using these for a few hours, unlike what happens with my Nike’s.

I bought these at a local store, but VEJA sneakers are pretty easy to find online. Either at the brand’s website or Zalando

If you’re considering buying a pair, check if a local retailer stocks these. This way, you’ll have the chance to have a better first impression of the product (some models are a bit heavy, at least for me) and to support small/local businesses while reducing your purchase’s environmental impact.

VEJA has plenty of leather and vegan leather sneakers in various models and color combinations. So, you might have difficulty choosing which one to buy (as you’ll probably want one of each).
