My Monthly Favorite Eco-conscious Products - May 2022

May’s Eco-Conscious Favorite list may come a little later than usual, but it sure comes packed with goodies. Don’t miss my favorite eco-conscious products of the month!3

It’s been a few hectic weeks, so I didn’t have the time (nor the mental space) to write about the favorites I have used and loved the most.

Despite being a month with a lot of work (and very little rest), I had the chance to discover some new products and re-discover pre-loved ones.

Without further ado, these were the products that I loved the most in May 2022.

Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Alcohol-Free Toner

I’ve been using Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Alcohol-Free Toner, in and out, for over five years. Despite trying a few different toners throughout these years, I always seem to return to this one.

Why? It’s a safe choice, as I know it works wonderfully on my sensitive skin. The problem? It’s not cheap, and, as I mentioned before, Kiehl’s is in that grey line regarding being a cruelty-free brand.

Besides the soothing effect this product has on my skin; I love that I can return this product’s package to the brand (to be repurposed) once I run out of product. Also, Kiehl’s toners come with a minimal package (just the plastic bottle, no box or wrapping).

Why is this product on the list? For two reasons: one, Kiehl’s recycling program. Second, I bought the 500 ml bottle (their larger format). This means more product, one single package, and less waste.

Pat McGrath Blitz Astral Quad: Ritualistic

This was my first Pat McGrath Eyeshadow Quad, which I use more often.

Pat McGrath’s Blitz Astral Quad: Ritualistic is unique, and I love the shade Rose Quartz (I call it “the unicorn eyeshadow”). It’s a simple yet unique duochrome that changes its color - when in contact with the light.

I usually apply it all over the eyelid with just a bit of eyeshadow primer underneath (the one from Fenty Beauty is my go-to). Given its texture, I apply it using the tip of my index finger.

I love using this eyeshadow whenever I feel blue (and need good vibes) or when I want to feel prettier. For both reasons, this was the eyeshadow I used the most in May 2022.

Why is this product on the list? Besides its uniqueness and undeniable quality, Pat McGrath is a cruelty-free brand.

JUNOCO Clean 10 Cleansing Balm

Say hello to one of my new skincare routine favorites. You probably already know that I am a huge fan of cleansing balms, as the first time of my skincare routine.

I use these daily, even when I am not wearing any makeup, because I feel it’s a great way of removing sunscreen residues (as well as contamination and sweat).

What do I like the most about JUNOCO’s Clean 10 Cleansing Balm? As I’ve previously mentioned in the review, I love how effective it is and how clean my skin feels afterward (as it doesn’t stripe the hydration). I also love its orangey scent.

If you’re looking for a conscious and effective cleansing balm, look no further!

Why is this product on the list? Natural and clean formula, effectiveness, and how pleasant my skin feels afterward.

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream

Yes, I've been testing some Drunk Elephant products lately! Given its price tag, I've been trying travel sizes to get an idea if the product works for me (instead of spending over 50 euros per product and seeing it go to waste).

When the brand arrived at Sephora Spain, I found some positive reviews of Drunk Elephant's Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream. As I have combination skin, I've been using this moisturizer in the evening to replenish my skin.

Even though its texture is denser than the one from Drunk Elephant’s Protini™ Powerpetide Moisturizer, it feels like a mouse that quickly melts and integrates when in contact with your skin. It’s not an oily formula, and it feels comfortable on the skin.

As I never tried this one in the morning, I can't talk about how it reacts over the hours (in terms of shine). So, if you have oily or combination skin, and I'd like to benefit from this product's properties, I recommend you use it only in the evening.

In terms of results, the travel-sized product lasted me a month or so. Some days I applied it with a  small drop of Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum. Overall, my skin looked healthier and nourished.

Now that I have run out of product, I am strongly considering purchasing the full size even though it costs 56,99 euros per 50ml of product.

Why is this product on the list? Three simple reasons: it's packed with great natural ingredients for our skin, vegan, and cruelty-free.

HAAN Hand Sanitizer

Are you still sanitizing your hands every few minutes when you’re out and about? I sure am! Even though I’ve been using these products less often than a year ago, I still feel the need to sanitize my hands after using public transportation or working out at the gym.

HAAN’s Sunset Fleur Hand Sanitizer is my favorite when running errands around town. Here’s why:

  • It’s compact.

  • It has a 97% natural origin formula that comes out as a spray.

  • The package is refillable.

I love this flowery scent, but if that’s not your case… they have plenty of scents for you to choose from.

Why is this product on the list? Natural formula, refillable minimal package (less plastic), and 20% of the profits fund water wells in developing countries.
