Lip Balm Recipe
Looking for a vegan and “nasty-free” lip balm? This one have it all. The best part? You can do it at home with simple ingredients.
Lockdown, Summer and face masks… your lips might be craving some extra hydration. Finding a “nasty-free” lip balm might be tricky, as most use ingredients that aren’t that good for you. And don’t get be fooled by how natural and organic the package looks, as you might end up being deceived by the ingredient list.
The solution? Making your own. At home. With clean ingredients that are easy to find.
Ingredients
6g candelilla wax
17g cocoa butter
13g shea butter
15g sweet almond oil
1g Vitamin E
10 drops bergamot essential oil (optional)
Preparation
First things first, sanitise all the equipment you’re going to use (spoons, bowls, glass measuring cup, lipstick containers).
Weight all the ingredients and save these aside in different containers. So you can have everything at hand when it’s time to add it to the mix.
Start by melting the candelilla wax, cocoa butter, shea butter and the sweet almond oil in Bain Marie. Stir until these are blended together.
Add the Vitamin E and the essential oil. Stir properly one more time.
Pour the mix into the lipstick tubes or tin containers. Let these cool before closing the lids.
Keep these in a cool and dry place, away from heat and light. You can use these up to 12 months.
Notes:
- If you’re not necessary looking for a vegan lip balm, you can swap the candelilla wax for beeswax (easier to find).
