Homemade Granola

Homemade Granola

Granola is considered a staple among the healthy foodies nowadays. However, store bought granolas are usually packed with sugar. Here’s my solution to your problem and it’s also zero waste, as all the ingredients were plastic free.

As a certified Health Coach I am often asked about the healthiest granolas in the market. Only to answer that the best granola is the one you cook yourself, as you can control the ingredients and tailor-made it according to your personal taste.

The best part? You don’t need an oven to make this recipe and you can get all your dry ingredients in bulk.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 2 tablespoons of coconut sugar (optional)

  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

  • 3 tablespoons of rice syrup

  • 1 handful of chopped walnuts

  • 1 handful of flaked almonds

  • 1 handful of pumpkin seeds

  • Coconut oil

Preparation:

Add a teaspoon of coconut oil to a pan, low heat.

Once the coconut oil is melted, add the oats, coconut sugar and cinnamon. Give it a stir once in a while and allow the content to get slowly toasted. Add the nuts, almonds and pumpkin seeds. Keep stirring for 2-3 minutes.

After that time, add the rice syrup and stir vigorously. When the content reach a granola consistency (oats sticked together, slightly toasted ingredients and looking glossy), take the pan out of the oven and let it cool. Store it in an air-tight container and serve it as you like best.

Hacks:

You can change the quantity of the ingredients as you wish. For example, adding more coconut sugar o rice syrup for a sweeter outcome. Or even swap these nuts for others that you prefer (cashews, dried fruit, seeds…). Make it just the way you  want and enjoy.
