My Monthly Favorite Eco-conscious Products - January 2022
New year, same mission: use more and more products that have a lower impact on the planet. These are the sustainable and conscious products I used the most in January 2022.
Even though one of my goals for this year is to keep discovering new eco-conscious products and write about these, I haven’t purchased a single product for testing this January. For two reasons: first, I wanted to get my finances back on track (after having some extra expenses for my birthday and Christmas) and, second, I had some beauty products I hadn’t tried yet.
Besides trying some of these new eco-conscious beauty products, I’ve ended up re-discovering some “old” products I had for over a year.
Without further ado, these were the conscious products that I used the most in January 2022.
ILIA’s Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil
I know, I’ve already said that it wasn’t my favorite. But it has an excellent formula, and I’ve previously said that I didn’t want this product to go to waste.
So throughout last month, I found myself using this Tinted Lip Oil from ILIA beauty almost daily. Why? It’s easy to apply, it feels comfortable on the lips (adding some moisture), I’ve worked from home the entire month, and this product tone isn’t very perceptible on zoom calls. That’s why this is the perfect to-go lip product.
I’ve also loved how plumped, and natural my lips look after applying this product. So, I might purchase a different shade when I run out of this one.
Egyptian Magic All Purpose Cream
I’ve been seeing the Egyptian Magic All Purpose Cream all over the internet for a long time now, but it never really caught my attention. Honestly, I thought that it would be packed with not-so-good ingredients.
Well, how wrong was I! The Egyptian Magic All Purpose Cream has only six ingredients in the smallest INCI that I’ve seen in years. All-natural ingredients! No fragrances, parabens, or other nasty ingredients.
Despite being an all-purpose product you can use anywhere, I’ve been using it exclusively as a lip balm for about a month now. And it has been a really lovely (and even cheaper) alternative to my beloved lip mask from Burt’s Bees.
I can tell that my lips look more nourished and healthier the day after. Plus, I like its light texture and how the product feels on my lips.
Huda Beauty Light Nude Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette
Huda Beauty’s Light Nude Obsessions is a small eyeshadow palette with a pink color story. It has nine pastel shades (five mattes and four shimmery). I bought it almost two years ago at Sephora when the lockdown restrictions started to lift.
For those of you who aren’t into makeup, Huda Beauty is known for the quality of its eyeshadows and is always coming up with new color stories and textures. Their products are cruelty-free, and they also have a few vegan options within their portfolio.
In particular, this eyeshadow palette is slimline edit of some of their famous matte and pastel tones. Even though I have had this eyeshadow palette for a long time now, it was only last month that I was able to experience its true potential and understand the hype around this brand.
The reason is simple: I received a set of eyeshadow brushes for my birthday, which was game-changing. Until then, I’ve been applying these eyeshadows with my fingertips. Playing with different tones and blending these out was a bit tricky. I ended up using only a matte eyeshadow or a shimmery one most of the time.
While the eyeshadow brushes made me realize its true potential (I know, I should have gotten these sooner), it was the color combination that did the trick. Thanks to its safe color scheme, I know I can easily pull off a pleasant and refined look without giving it much thought. The fact that it’s small and handy is, without a doubt, a massive plus for me. I tend to feel overwhelmed every time I use an extensive eyeshadow palette.
Respire Deodorant - Fleur de Coton
As you know, I am always looking for effective natural deodorants. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case, no matter how much money I spend.
I’ve been eyeing Respire’s products at Sephora for quite some time now, and I’ve always thought that it would be another waste of money until I got a sample version of their Fleur de Coton (Cotton Flower) deodorant.
Given that I am currently working from home, it was relatively safe to give it a try, as I didn’t have to worry about my co-workers after my long commute (2 hours each way).
It turned out to be an enjoyable experience after all. The deodorant doesn’t have a strong scent, it’s easy to apply (without leaving undesired residues on my clothes), and it proved effective even when I am out and about or working out.
Respire’s deodorants are available in two different packages: plastic and paper (at least at Sephora Spain). So, I am pretty sure I’ll get a full-size one (same scent) when I run out of this one.
Labienhecha Handbag
Since I purchased it last year, I have been talking about it, and I can’t get tired of it. I love everything about it and the brand itself. Labienhecha is a small leather goods atelier in Málaga (south of Spain), where all the products are handmade by women using recycled leather.
While I don’t leave home much these days because of the pandemic, I found myself grabbing this handbag most of the times I went out (doctor appointments, vaccine booster, and running errands around town).
I love its effortless vibe, the number of things I can fit in such a compact space, and, last but not least, the pop of color it adds to my looks. I am a huge fan of navy clothes, especially in the winter, making this handbag the perfect addition to my capsule wardrobe.
