#BrandsWeLove: Lefrik

Simple designs and functional products made with recycled materials. Get ready to discover this sustainable and eco-friendly brand.

The first time we’ve heard about Lefrik was in a vegan-friendly issue from Time Out magazine. Our first thought? Such a cool backpack. Where can we get one?

Even though we only got to know this Spanish brand last summer, Lefrik was established in 2012 and have been designing urban travel essentials with eco-friendly fabrics ever since. In case you don’t know, their fabrics are made out of recycled PET bottles. Pretty cool, right?

If you’re not convinced yet or want to get a bigger picture about Lefrik, we give you 3 reasons to fall in love with this brand.

1- Upcycling

Yes, you might be becoming familiarised with this expression these days. More than a trend, it is a need. For the sake of the environment, it is important that brands start giving another purpose to materials that already exist.

One of the coolest things about Lefrik is that they were upcycling before it was cool. And before most brands were doing it. How cool is that?

2- Functionality and design

This was the first thing that caught our eye. Their products are very functional and packed with clever details. For example, their Handy backpack has a pocket in the back area. Perfect to keep your prized possessions during your commute, as no one can have access to that.

Besides, their products are really light without compromising the quality. Thanks to the materials they use.

3- Plastic-free shipping

Even though we love to stop by their Malasaña store, a couple of months ago we decided to test if Lefrik was as eco-friendly as they’ve said. So we’ve bought a product online.

We were quite pleased with what we’ve got. No fillers, no plastic bags. Just the product we ordered and a lovely postcard (that is now used as a bookmark).

Yes, there was this little bit of plastic covering the address info but… we’re going to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is a practice required by many delivery companies.
