Sustainable Living Books That I Want To Read

Sustainable Living Books That I Want To Read

From relatively recent launches to guides, these are the five books on sustainable living that I want to read in 2021.

Being a bookworm and a sustainable living enthusiast means that I am always looking up new books, guides, and studies on the subject. While many of the published books on the subject share a common ground (tips, processes, and data on sustainable living), some give you a breath of fresh air and inspiration.

Even though I’ve lost count on the number of books I’ve read on the subject right now, there are a few that I would recommend over and over to everyone that is just getting started.

Without further ado, here’s my current reading wishlist on sustainable living:

My Curated Closet

Creating a minimalist and more eco-friendly closet is something that I’ve been working on for the past couple of years. Although it’s far from being perfect, I surely made huge progress.

From someone who went shopping at the mall every single week, to someone who only buys pieces that are needed and that I absolutely love. Choosing quality over quantity these days.

After reading a couple of books on the subject, and not sharing the same perspective as the author’s, I was quite pleased when I came across “My Curated Closet” by Anuschka Rees.

I’ve learned so much with the Kindle sample, that I can’t tell how much I’ll learn when I read the whole thing.

Now that Summer is finally here, and that you might need to do some cleaning, this is a great book option if you want to improve your closet.

Less is More

Released almost a year ago, “Less Is More: How Degrowth Will Save The World” by Jason Hickel has been off my radar for quite a while.

The title is quite self-explanatory and I can’t wait to lay my hands on it. “Less is more” is a book about how the post-capitalism economy will look like and what we need to do (as a collective) to restore this much-needed balance.

As I am constantly trying to become more minimalist and leave a better world for future generations, this is clearly a book that I want to read.

The Burning Question

An oldie that only got my attention quite recently. “The Burning Question” by Mike Breners-Lee and Duncan Clark, is a book on climate change and how it goes back into centuries.

Doing some digging on fuel sources and renewable energies. Which is something I want to know more about, in order to do better choices on a daily basis.

Even though I do most of my weekly shopping while walking around my neighborhood and use public transportation when I need to go somewhere further, I am sure there’s a lot more I can do to lower my current footprint.

How Bad Are Bananas?

Talking about the footprint, this is one read I can’t miss. Bananas, avocados, and mangos are some of the things that I have been avoiding this year - because of the environmental impact.

That’s exactly what “How Bad Are Bananas?”, by Mike Berners-Lee (yes, the same author as the previous book), is all about. The carbon footprint of everything. Helping us pick our battles.

I can only say that my expectations are really high when it comes to this sustainable living book.

The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide

Oh, guides! Sustainable living guides… I just can’t get enough of these. Even though there’s a common growth and some ubiquitous tips, I just love to read about different personal approaches to sustainable living.

The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide: Everything you need to know to make small changes that make a big difference by Jen Gale, just caught my eye and I can’t wait to read it.

As you might know by now, I am all about small changes that make a positive impact on the world.  So I really hope that this guide on eco-friendly lifestyle meets my point of view on the subject and gives me the inspiration I need
