Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint Review

Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint Review

Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Jelly Tint has been one of the most hyped beauty products of the year so far. But is it worth all the hype? Let’s find out!

I don’t know if it was just me, but my TikTok feed has been going wild over the past weeks with Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Jelly Tint.

I am not easily influenced by social media trends or products that have a lot of hype, but somehow, this product surprised me in a way that made me highly anticipate its European launch.

Why? Because I’ve never seen something like this. Yes, it’s a skin tint that can be used on the cheeks and the lips. There is nothing new here except its format: it looks like jelly! And it slightly bounces like one.

I was so excited about this product that I went to my local Sephora on the very morning it was launched in Spain for two reasons: I really wanted to check the shades in person (I was divided between two), and I knew it would sell out quite fast (as it did).

I ended up picking the shade Spritz. It’s slightly orange and more toned down than the other options, which is exactly what I was looking for: a blush that looked natural and wasn’t rosy (like all the other ones in my collection).

I was a bit surprised by the price, as this small blush retails for 28,99€ —which is a lot!

What does the brand say about the Cooling Water Jelly Tint?

According to Milk Makeup’s website, the Cooling Water Jelly Tint is a long-lasting lip and cheek stain with a hydrating, bouncy jelly texture that glides on for a sheer, buildable burst of color.

Available in 4 shades, this blush and lip stain is 90% natural, clean, vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, non-comedogenic, and non-acnegenic.

How to apply it?

Milk Makeup recommends gently swiping or swirling the stick directly onto lips and cheeks. They mention that the product dries fast, so it is important to work one cheek at a time and blend quickly with fingers, a brush, or a sponge.

It is possible to build the intensity of the blush by applying different layers.

For a softer, more diffused look, sweep a brush over the stick and then onto the cheeks.

Close the cap back on tightly (listen for the click!) and store it at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.

Use an oil-based cleanser to completely remove the stain from the skin.

What were my expectations with this product?

My expectations with this product were that it would allow me to easily create a natural flushed or sun-kissed look.

I love my cream blushes from Nudestix, but sometimes, I want something that looks even more natural.

I have never used a tint before, but given the format of Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Jelly Tint, I was expecting it would be a bit easier to use and blend out.

My experience using Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Jelly Tint?

OK, Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Jelly Tint is the most original and fun makeup product I’ve tried so far.

It looks and feels like a jelly. It has a bouncy texture and a refreshing sensation - even without putting it on the fridge.

I started by applying it directly on one of my cheeks and blending it out with a blush brush. I immediately liked the result. It looked pretty natural and even. I ended up adding another layer for a better color payoff, and then I moved on to the other cheek.

Despite the natural-looking effect, I’ve noticed that this product stains immediately and dries quite quickly. So, in order to get an even look, it is important to blend out the product quite fast—either with a brush or your fingertips.

I’ve also tried applying it with a brush, getting some product with the bristles, and only then applying it to my skin, as the brand recommended. It works quite well, and I believe it’s easier to get an even look, but I’ve lost the fun effect (as well as the refreshing sensation).

What surprised me the most was how well it worked with my foundation. Not only it integrated and dried out immediately on top of the other products, it remained there throughout all day - without fading.

It also worked incredibly well just on top of my skincare and sunscreen.

Overall, I enjoyed the final result and I see myself reaching for this product whenever I want to create a natural look. Especially on the summer, on top of my reliable sunscreen.

And despite its incredible durability, it was quite simple to remove by the end of the day using my reliable cleansing balm from Drunk Elephant.

Would I recommend it?

Mmm… that’s a tricky question.

I like this product, but I recognize that it might not be for everyone.

Why? It’s a bit tricky to use, given how fast it dries out on the skin. No matter how you decide to apply it, you have to go fast.

So, if you’re interested in it, I recommend you apply it initially with a blush brush (like this one from Sephora) and later on directly on the skin (as you get more comfortable with it).

However, if you want a reliable everyday blush that is easy to use and will remain on your skin all day… I would recommend the matte ones from Nudestix. These are available in plenty of shades and blend out almost by itself.

Now, if you’re a more experienced makeup user and want a fun tint in different colors than the typical red… this is an exciting option.

I’ll keep using mine, especially throughout the summer.

7/10
