Conscious Beauty Empties #1: Am I going to repurchase these?

Conscious Beauty Empties #1: Am I going to repurchase these?

Beauty empties are one of my favorite video concepts on YouTube, probably because there isn’t a more honest review than this. Let’s find out what was my latest conscious beauty empties and if I’ll repurchase these anytime soon.

During the past couple of years, I’ve become even more picky regarding my beauty products, not just because of their formulas or package, but mainly if these might be a good fit for me.

So, before I buy anything, I do a lot of research… mainly on YouTube. And despite all the work done, there are a few misses now and then. Does the same happen to you?

Without further, these are the latest conscious beauty products that I’ve used up.

Glossier Balm Dotcom

As Glossier didn’t ship to Spain (where I am currently based) until recently, I’ve tried to make this tube of Glossier’s Balm Dotcom (I got in London nearly a year ago) last as long as possible.

Out of the array of scents/flavors that the Balm Dotcom is available, I picked the rose one. Despite loving the light rose scent (not intense or overpowering at all), I enjoy that it gives the faintest hint of pink to my lips.

What do I like the most about it? The formula. It’s a nourishing salve, yet it’s pretty easy to squeeze out of the tube and apply on the skin without leaving chunks of product or an unpleasant sensation.

Given my tube still didn’t have the lip applicator and I had to get some product on my fingertips before applying it on my lips, I’ve been using this as my “before going to bed” moisturizer. And it has done wonders not only for my lips but also for any dry area (like my nose during the winter).

So, I was really pleasantly surprised to see that the product was quite good and not just another trend that wasn’t worth the hype (nor the money).

The tube I’ve just used up still had the old non-vegan formula (Glossier reformulated it earlier this year), and I can’t wait to try the new one.

Would I recommend this product? Yes!

Will I repurchase it? Absolutely!

Kérastase Soleil Bain Shampoo

I’ve never taken much care of my hair until earlier this year. The reason? I started coloring my hair about a year ago, and I soon noticed that keeping my color in good condition requires minimum maintenance.

One of the things that I discovered about my hair is its tendency to get lighter due to the sun (the minimum amount, actually), so my hair stylist recommended Kerástase’s Soleil Bain Shampoo before the summer, and I’ve been using it ever since.

Despite having coconut water in its composition, my hair (greasy roots and dry splits) felt really clean. Plus, its scent immediately transports me to sunny days on the beach.

Regarding results, this product worked incredibly well, and I’ll repurchase it for next spring/summer. I would do a first wash (with this or another shampoo), then apply a regular amount of this shampoo and let it do its magic for about five minutes before rinsing.

Kérastase products are made in Spain, which makes these local products for me.

Would I recommend this product? Absolutely! It does what it says and it’s worth every cent.

Will I repurchase it? Yes! I hope to get it discounted on Singles’ Day or Black Friday.

Kérastase Soleil Crème UV Sublime

OK, Kérastase’s Soleil Crème UV Sublime is from the same line of the product I’ve just recommended by my hair stylist.

It’s like a sunscreen for your hair. It’s a leave-in creamy formula that is easy to apply and spread throughout the hair locks. It smells incredible, plus it doesn’t leave the hair heavy or greasy.

I would apply it while my hair was towel dry (but still wet) before using my hairdryer.

Despite loving the shampoo from the same line, this leave-in product made my hair color last longer (and beautiful) during the sunnier days.

I also have the leave-in spray from the same line, but I’m not fond of it as much as it leaves my hair stiff and greasy.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, yes, and yes!

Will I repurchase it? Absolutely! I am waiting for a discount to stock up on this one.

Kérastase Aura Botanica Soin Fondamental Conditioner

Even though this is the third Kérastase product on the list, I don’t share the same feelings about this one as the previous ones.

Kérastase Aura Botanica Soin Fondamental is a dense and nourishing conditioner. It smells fantastic, and it feels pretty lush, but other than that, I haven’t noticed an incredible difference in my hair (unlike the previous two products).

I bought it because I ran out of conditioner and this one was on sale. I decided to give it a try due to my positive experience.

However, I don’t see myself repurchasing it anytime soon, as I prefer other conditioner formulas from Kérastase.

Would I recommend this product? Hmmm… probably no. Even though there’s nothing wrong with this product, there isn’t anything remarkable (at least for me). So, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Will I repurchase it? Well, no. I just prefer other sorts of formulas.

Suntique I Am Aqua Sunscreen

If you’re not new to this blog, you already know I am a big fan of Suntique’s I Am Aqua Sunscreen.

This has been my go-to for a few years now. And despite its price (around 25 euros), this is the most comfortable sunscreen I’ve ever tried. It feels like water when you start applying it all over the skin.

As I have combination skin, I notice it doesn’t generate more undesired shine - which is essential for me.

Plus, it doesn’t destroy my makeup when I re-apply this sunscreen on top of it throughout the day.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, but only if you’re OK with spending extra euros on sunscreen.

Will I repurchase it? Absolutely! I hope Miin Cosmetics includes it on their Black Friday deals this year so I can get more than one.

Mario Badescu Witch Hazel & Rose Water Toner

This toner from Mario Badescu has been a regular on my beauty cupboard for a few years now.

I really like the faint rosey scent, the instant hydration it gives, and its affordable price.

During the past couple of months, I have used up the leftovers that I had lying around. That’s why you can see two empty packages in this article.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, especially if you’re looking for a gentle and hydrating toner.

Will I repurchase it? Well, not anytime soon. I’ve just purchased a large toner from Kiehl’s during their Friends & Family so that I won’t need a new one in the upcoming months.

Drunk Elephant Slaai™ Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser

Of all the cleansing balms I’ve tried so far, the one from Drunk Elephant remains my favorite.

Yes, it’s also the most pricey of the bunch… but it’s worth every cent. At least for me!

I have very sensitive skin and sensitive eyes, plus I am a bit picky when it comes to scented skincare products. And this one definitely matches my criteria.

It emulsifies and removes the makeup easily, providing a pleasant sensation. I love that it properly cleans my skin without stripping it.

Would I recommend this product? Absolutely, but I would warn about the price.

Will I repurchase it? 100 times, yes! I’ve just purchased a new jar, and I hope to stock up later this year.

Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream

This eye cream from Mizon used to be my go-to eye cream for a few years now until I tried my current one from Kiehl’s.

I like its gel-like formula. It provides hydration to the area while being quickly absorbed.

However, my under-eye area became slightly dryer during the past year. So, unfortunately, this formula from Mizon falls short, given my needs.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, but only if your under-eye isn’t too dry or needs a hydration boost.

Will I repurchase it? Unfortunately, no. Just because I don’t think this is the right fit for me anymore, despite being a great product at an affordable price.

Milk Makeup Rise Mascara

Milk Makeup Rise Mascara

OK, I had high expectations for Milk Makeup’s Rise Mascara mostly because I like their other mascara.

It’s vegan, it has 93% natural ingredients, and its wand has a natural curve.

So, what happened? The formula flaked and smudged just a few hours after applying it.

I am glad I tried this mascara on a WFH day. Otherwise, it would have been a total disaster.

Even though I have just used this once, it was enough to understand how it performs. So, yes, I just threw it in the recycling bin.

Would I recommend this product? Absolutely not!

Will I repurchase it? No way!

What about you? What products have you used up lately? Is there anything you’d recommend?
